First Placement For BCCI's "Working Together" Program

The Blindman Broome are the first local business to successfully employ an Indigenous youth into their workplace under the BCCI's "Working Together" Program.

The Blindman is the leading supplier of top quality blinds, curtains, awnings and shutters throughout the North West with a comprehensive range of colours, styles and designs of window treatments.  Working alongside owner operator Alan Clayton, Beau Highlands (as pictured) will be assisting with the manufacture of window treatments, learning and training from the regions pioneer in the window treatment market. 

Beau aspires to be also be a business owner and has undertaken Small Business Management training with North Regional TAFE to help his aspirations become a reality.  Both Alan and Beau will receive ongoing support and mentoring from Working Together and Nyamba Buru Yawuru's Transition to Work program, to ensure a successful working relationship.

Working Together is a dedicated service with a focus on providing information, support and advice to business owners and operators in the West Kimberley to attract recruit and retain young Indigenous employees.


Working in collaboration with the local Aboriginal Workforce Development Centre, and other local partners, Working Together aims to expand employment, training and mentorship opportunities for young local Indigenous people by connecting them with local businesses.  With access to Jobs Board, information on financial support, mentoring and training partners, and incentives for employing a local indigenous youth.
