#SYLA Auction sells $4000 worth of art with help from Missy Higgins
Written on the 25 August 2017
An excited Broome crowd enjoyed great food, a few drinks, the wit of our resident auctioneer Chris Maher and a special treat, Missy Higgins demonstrating her (new found) painting skills at the #SYLA art auction last night. A melting pot of talented artists and artisans from Broome offered a quality line up of their product for Broome Makers in Johnny Chi Lane. The highlight of the night which was organised by Jael Napper of the Chamber of Commerce to inject funds in to their project, the Broome Makers Gallery, was Missy Higgins' acrylic on canvas "broome tentacles" selling after an intense bidding war for over $600. Missy painted the piece on site so that we could watch the birth of her very first artwork whilst the crowd enjoyed the crooning of local musician Steve Angoorly prior to the auction. Overall the evening was great fun and a great success selling over $4,000 worth of pieces. Congratulations to all involved and thanks to those who bid, won and shopped and to Missy for helping Support Your Local Artists.
