The Broome Chamber is thrilled to be delivering the town Christmas party once again in 2017, revealing a delightful line up of festivities following generous support from the Shire and local business community.

A much loved tradition for Broome's community, the Christmas street party is confirmed to proceed on Friday 8 December 5 to 8pm and will feature a gift market, carols and entertainment on Carnarvon Street, Roey carpark Christmas party, live nativity scene and kids Christmas wonderland on Male Oval.  Entertainment will be provided by local choirs and performers, with a very special visit from Santa to spread the yuletide cheer to children.

Ultimately, the event was made possible thanks to three hero businesses in particular, the Roey Hotel, INPEX Ichthys LNG Project and Footprint Cleaning who have banded together to secure the delivery of this year's event.   Together these businesses have pledged $14,000 with a further $6,000 raised by the local business community who have made financial contributions to ensure that Broome's community will not miss out on its festive joy this year.  The Shire of Broome has pledged $12,000 of in-kind support including road closures and rubbish, and the Chinatown Revitalisation will contribute toward the event through their late night trading trial.

"Broome is a warm place at the best of times, but the warm fuzzy feeling that you get seeing such generosity from the business community is worth all of our time and energy to deliver this event again this year," Said Chamber CEO Jael Napper, who gave a striking resemblance of Santa's elf last year.

General Manager of the Roey Hotel Stewart Burchell said, "The Roey is a local's pub and has always been a local's pub, so when the Broome community needed a helping hand to deliver this year's Christmas party we did not hesitate to support The BCCI mange this much loved tradition."

General Manager of External Relations and Joint Venture Bill Townsend said that the funding support by INPEX toward the Christmas Party was a small part of $39,289 toward Broome community initiatives.  "We are pleased to be able to provide a meaningful contribution to community groups in Broome that will deliver benefits right back through the community".

Footprint Cleaning's Taryn Ryan said, "As a family business, we understand how important this event is for the local community and are pleased to be in a position to be able to give back through sponsoring the Christmas Party."

Broome Shire President, Harold Tracey, said that Council was providing in-kind support for the Chinatown Christmas Party to help cover the cost of running the event, while the Chinatown Revitalisation Project was providing street entertainment, lighting, liaison with traders and more as an extension of the Late Night Trading Trial.

"The Chinatown Christmas Party is always a wonderful community event, and it's great to see the business community coming together to make it happen this year with the Shire of Broome pleased to again provide sponsorship and support," Cr Tracey said.

"The final event of the Chinatown Revitalisation Project Late Night Trading Trial for 2017 has also been timed to coincide with the Christmas Party and so those resources will also go toward making this a memorable event."
