All-Indigenous refuelling crew shows fly-in, fly-out workforce not needed in Djarindjin

A reformed alcoholic is helping to turn around the fortunes of a tiny Aboriginal community in Western Australia's north, as it capitalises on a boom in the vast offshore gas reserves of the Browse Basin.

For four years Bardi man Kimberley Baird has been running the refuelling team at a remote bush airport, built by the Djarindjin community to secure major contracts with companies about to begin production off the Kimberley coast.
