Auditor General says government should reassess future development of Ord River

Auditor General says government should reassess future development of Ord River THE $500 million Ord River Irrigation system had not delivered "all expected benefits", according to Auditor General Colin Murphy.

In his report released today, Mr Murphy said that while the infrastructure was now in place, "not all expected benefits were realised".

He said that while employment and training during construction had been considerable, the benefits had not continued to flow.

"Agricultural development has been slower than planned which has limited employment opportunities so far," Mr Murphy said.
