Barton Deakin briefing on federal parliament summons

This week the Prime Minister, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP, announced that the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Hon Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retr'd), has summonsed the Federal Parliament to sit for an additional session beginning Monday, 18 April.

The Prime Minister also announced that the 2016/17 Budget would be released on Tuesday, 3 May, one week earlier than was expected. 

The Prime Minister stated that the Parliament will now sit for an additional three weeks.
