Broome pearl-sonality a pioneer
Written on the 31 May 2016Pearling pioneer Bill Reed talks about his extraordinary journey and why the best pearl is the one that just walked out the door.
"Bloody thing," Bill Reed says, tossing a dismissive wave at a folded bit ofThe West's puzzle page lying on his desk. "I can't work out the nine-letter word for that one." It takes a fair bit to stump the marine biologist and Broome pearl-sonality at 84 he is sharper than a shucking knife.
Thanks to his trusty "personnel", Bill admits he isn't required to spend a great deal of time manning the front of the Kimberley-classy Allure South Sea Pearls showroom these days, only getting summoned when there's someone particularly interesting in store.
