Broome's small businesses celebrated at award night

In a gala evening hosted by GWN7's Noel Brunning at Cable Beach Club Resort, eleven of Broome's small businesses across nine categories were congratulated at the Broome Small Business Awards on Friday night with Kullarri Building taking out two.

The winners were:

  • Optimise HR (Kimberley Development Commission award for Home-Based Business)
  • Agunya (Nyirrwa Murrgurlayi award for Community Engagement)
  • Kullarri Building (Nyamba Buru Yawuru award for Aboriginal Business)
  • Hydrokleen Broome (Hertz Broome award for Franchise Business)
  • Footprint Cleaning (Kimberley Small Business Support award for Start Up Business)
  • Sobrane (Small Business Development Corporation award for business 0 to 4 employees)
  • Life & Soul Health & Fitness Club (Horizon Power award for busiess 5 to 10 employees)
  • Progressive Supplies (Phoenix Insurance award for business 11 to 20 employees)
  • Kullari Building (Working Together Business of the Year)

HIghly Commended:

  • Kimberley Medical Group (Kimberley Small Business Support award for Start Up Business)
  • Decknicians (Small Business Development Corporation award for business 0 to 4 employees)
  • Adventure Wild Kimberley Tours (Horizon Power award for busiess 5 to 10 employees)

Broome Chamber CEO said, "Each of the winners have shown great initiative by simply entering the awards and taking the time and effort to celebrate their achievements in business."

Each applicant was scored on their commitment to customer service, financial performance, retention and motivation of staff as well as community engagement and environmental ethical practices.

"It's great to see such a diverse mix of business sectors represented in our winning entrants which should present Broome a good chance of being represented on a state level," Jael said.

The Regional WA Small Business Awards will be held in Perth on November 10.

The Chamber urges all Broome businesses with fewer than 20 full time equvalent employees to start working on their submission for the 2018 awards to be held at Cable Beach Club Resort on Friday 4 May.
