Broome showcases at Northern Australia Investment Forum

The Broome Chamber joined a delegation of West Kimberley businesses at the 2nd Northern Australia Investment Forum in Cairns to showcase the unique assets of the region to hundreds of international delegates last week.

An initiative of the Federal Government's Austrade, organisers were delighted to see a much greater participation from The Kimberley this year which included Nyamba Buru Yawuru, Kimberley Meat Company, Willie Creek Pearls, Aarli Mayi, Cable Beach Club and Mowanjum Pastoral as well as key infrastructure representation from the Kimberley Ports Authority.

In partnership with the WA Departmentment of Primary Industry and Regional Development (DPIRD), the opportunity was embraced for the Broome Chamber to host an exhibition stand alongside the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce and Industry to present key projects and opportunities throughout the region.

Broome Chamber Chief Executive hailed the event an enormous step forward in industry and business collaboration, embracing the opportunity to unite key stakeholders in the development of the region as a starting point to continue a dialogue to help resolve government processes inhibiting growth in the region.

"There are several great businesses working in the Kimberley who are each trying to move forward in their individual operations with great frustration," Ms Napper said.

"This event delivered a great opportunity to hold private meetings with government representatives and build a pathway toward the future where we can help each other build on the vision as articulated by the state and federal government's aspirations for the North."

Following a group meeting with Director General of DPIRD in Cairns, the Chamber will call a further meeting to understand any progress made on individual applications and administration processes within the government to streamline a more practical way forward.
