Call for public submissions into Sustainable Health Review

Written on the 8 August 2017

Western Australians are being encouraged to have their say in the State Government's Sustainable Health Review, with the public submission period opening today.

Public submissions are the first step in an extensive engagement program being undertaken to ensure all Western Australians, including our patients, our communities, our workforce and our partners, can contribute to the review.

The WA public health system has grown enormously over the past 10 years and health spending has almost tripled in this time to about $9 billion.

The State's population has grown by more than 25 per cent; emergency department attendance has increased by almost 50 per cent; and hospital admissions by 40 per cent.

Submissions are sought from all members of the community, including people and organisations within the WA health system, who would like to share their experiences and perspectives on how we can harness new ideas, technology and innovation to ensure we can continue to deliver high-quality healthcare into the future.

Following the recent announcement of Robyn Kruk AM as Chair of the Sustainable Health Review Panel, the remaining members of the panel have been appointed.

They include:
  • Consumer nominee: Pip Brennan, Chair of the Consumer and Carer Reference Group;
  • Clinical nominee: Dr Hannah Seymour, Chair of the Clinical Reference Group;
  • Minister's nominee: Adjunct Professor Warren Harding; and
  • Employee nominee: Meredith Hammat.
  • For more information about how to make a public submission and further information about panel members, visit http://www.health.wa.gov.au/sustainablehealthreview

Public submissions close on October 2, 2017.
