Chinatown Stakeholder and Community Reference Group meets for first time

A revitalised Chinatown is fast becoming a reality after the Shire alongside Landcorp presented key community stakeholders with their vision for returning this to the vibrant heartbeat of Broome.

The $12.6million investment involves short term plans to create shaded, landscaped streets attracting outdoor dining and entertainment, as well as key long term infrastructure essential to the future of Broome's population growth and tourism offering.

While the Shire has presented their vision, ultimately the final planning rests with the community stakeholders to agree on the priorities and direction of the implementation making this a truly collaborative process.

The meetings will be held monthly in order to ensure that plans are prepared for implementation as soon as Cabinet has released the $10million.

The Chamber encourages all business community members to offer their ideas to be taken into consideration by contacting the Executive Officer.
