Digital Utility Awards - Recognition for Regional Power Company Horizon Power

Written on the 23 April 2018

Horizon Power was named Digital Utility of the Year at a presentation event in Melbourne recently (19 April), which is fantastic recognition of our transformation from an energy-focused utility to a technology-focused one.

The top award, Utility Innovator of the Year, went to our Managing Director Frank Tudor for overseeing our strategic direction and a number of our Australian-first innovations.

Frank said the awards were acknowledgment of each and every employees' contribution to our transformation.

"I know it's often said, but we wouldn't be where we are without the dedication and hard work of everyone at Horizon Power I'm proud to work alongside you all," he said.

"Our ground-breaking innovations and our move towards digital technologies has drawn international attention, but it hasn't happened overnight and it was much more than the work of one person.

"As an industry, I believe we need to digitise to stay ahead of the curve and remain relevant. Investing in the digital technology space is the solution, and opens up enormous opportunities for commercialisation, and exploration of new ideas and ways of working."

The Digital Utility Awards by Utility magazine the most widely read industry publication recognise the utility industry's greatest achievements in the digitisation of utility networks, processes and practices across Australia. Frank's award recognises the person making the single biggest contribution to the digitisation of the utility sector across Australia.

Our Project Director of our Retail Strategy Geoff White, said being named Digital Utility of the Year was fantastic recognition for the whole company.

"There's a lot of work going on across our organisation to make this transition possible, so it's very nice for the whole company to be recognised for the investments being made and the risks being taken," he said.
