East Kimberley council election: Menzel instated unopposed as new president

It took until after midnight but all nine seats for the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley council were filled overnight.

From a field of 20, the community had the choice for who it wanted to take over the reins more than a year on from when the previous council was relieved of its duties and replaced with a commissioner.

Eight out of nine candidates who ran together on a ticket championing a "fresh start" were voted in after yesterday's local government elections.
