Good name to cater for familyWritten on the 8 September 2017 Former television producer Jack Kain and siblings Kitty and Joe were trying to come up with a name for their Broome catering business. So they workshopped a few ideas, TV style. Mr Kain said they wanted a couple of strong words to reflect their values, and because it was a family business decided one of them should be cartel. Understandably, they wanted to avoid the South American gangster connotations. "We really liked a lot of what cartel meant, apart from all of the mass murder," the New Zealander said. "Then it was like, how do we soften that?" The result was The Good Cartel, which began with a food truck Mr Kain drove from Sydney about three years ago. It now runs an alfresco dining and drive-through restaurant attached to the historic Sun Pictures cinema. What helped get the restaurant off the ground was a casual drop-in at the heliport by Kitty while scouting around town for catering opportunities that tapped the business into the oil and gas industry.
