Green Army graduates ready for the workforce A graduation ceremony was held last week at the Green Army Crab Creek site for 14 of Mamabulanjin's Green Army participants.

The 6 month project, a partnership between the Water Corporation, Mamabulanjin Aboriginal Corporation, Coact, and North Regional TAFE, saw participants aged from 17 to 24 years old gain skills and practical knowledge in horticulture, land rehabilitation, workplace health and safety, first aid, propagation and development of gubinge and traditional bush foods.

The students also gained a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management while completing the work experience program at the Water Corporation Ponds at Crab Creek and Skuthorpe Nursery site north of Broome.

Due to the popularity of the program, many will recommence the Green Army project, to gain further work experience and a Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management, and others will be looking at transitioning to meaningful employment with local businesses in Broome.

Elaine Jolliffe from The Chamber's Working Together program says, "The Green Army students have proven themselves work ready and would make valuable contribution for any business with positions in horticulture and propagation.

"We enthusiastically offer our collaboration to assist with the transition of Green Army graduates into further career opportunities," Said Elaine.
