Horizon apologises for 90 minute power outageWritten on the 8 March 2016 by Jael Napper Broome's business community skidded to a halt this morning as a fault with the Broome power station caused a 90 minute outage. The power went out at approx. 8.45am this morning, returning at approx. 10.15am. Keeping residents updated through their Facebook page, Horizon Power said, "We have been advised by our Independent Power provider which operates the Broome power station that the station lost gas pressure earlier this moring and that resulted in power supplies to all Broome customers being interrupted., "Maintenance crews have rectified the issue and are in the process of starting up the generators. "Power is expected to be restored within the next 30 minutes. Horizon Power apologizes for the inconvenience." Horizon Power has since confirmed the fault has been fixed, and contrary to some information circulating at the time residents in Kununurra and Halls Creek were not affected. A second apology has since been posted online alongsie a request that any customers whose power has not returned check their meter box to make sure the circuit breakers (safety switches) are on, Call 1800 267 926 if the problem continues.
