Hutchies announces Dollars For Doc Day - Oct 10

Written on the 30 August 2017

Hutchies announces Dollars For Doc Day - Oct 10 Supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service is a part of everyday life for Chamber Members, Hutchinson Real Estate.  The company provides sponsored retail space for the vintage shop, Trendy Trash 'n Treasure, enabling continuous contributions to the Service from the sale of donated vintage and secondhand goods.  Volunteer staff run the shop.

The company has also supported the RFDS through the Gibb River Challenge.

Now, as the charity of choice for Hutchies, the RFDS will benefit from "Dollars for the Doc Day", which will be launched on Tuesday, October 10th the anniversary date, in 1935, of the Western Australian Section of the Service. The first medical flight in the state, from Port Hedland, was also undertaken on that day.  The company intends to make the fundraiser an annual event and to seek the support of other local businesses and the community to boost the contribution made to the Service.

In the first six months of operation from the Broome Base, the RFDS carried out 215 flights, covering 307,00 kilometres and retrieving 297 patients.  The Broome facility has clearly built capacity to deliver the most effective aero medical care to our region and support for the Service is vital to us all.

Tony Hutchinson said, "When I spoke to the staff here about a charity of choice, the RFDS was clearly the preferred option.  This new initiative will increase our capacity to support the Service and we are proud to be in a position to create a fundraiser which will have the potential to deliver considerable donations we all have a part to play".

Enquiries about "Dollars for the Doc Day" can be made to Melva Stone at the Chamber on 9193 5553.
