In The Zone: Aussie farmers sate region's hunger A trilogy of linked megatrends is supercharging Australia's role and opportunities in the Asian region as never before and federal Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia Josh Frydenberg is determined to ensure they are not ignored or missed.

Addressing The Australian's Global Food Forum in Melbourne in April, Frydenberg firstly identified the emerging strength of Australia's agriculture and food sector, with rural exports now worth $45 billion annually and tipped to exceed $100bn in the next 15 years.

Combined with forecasts of a doubling of food consumption in China and India by 2050 and a fourfold increase in food demand by Australia's nearest neighbour, Indonesia the reason for his confidence in Australia's booming agricultural sector's future is clear.
