Ms Martin, the first Labor Chief Minister in the Territory, officially named the project's floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facility Ichthys Venturer at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea.Foreign Minister Julie Bishop named the project's central processing facility (CPF) Ichthys Explorer at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard, also in South Korea. "Inpex had been trying to establish a production facility on the Kimberley coast and were spending a long time working through the issues," Ms Martin recalled. "I took a small group over and we met the Chairman, who told us they already had a plan. I said yes, but it's good to have a Plan B. Soon after, they came to Darwin to have a look.
