Is the Ord Under-Utilised?

Rob Boshammer has worked in the Ord Valley for the past 30 years, he thinks the scheme is being under-utilised and has the capacity to feed 100,000 cattle a year.

Mr Boshammer said the high cattle prices at the moment meant there was a real opportunity for Ord farmers to make money feeding cattle and the Ord was well located for live export producers, being situated en route to the Port of Wyndham.

To prove his point, Mr Boshammer has already baled some hay he's grown on his farm at the northern end of Ord Stage 1.

"I wanted to prove that we could make the hay and make the feed before I try to encourage people about a cattle feeding exercise," he said.
