Job exchange opens door to youth

Business leaders in Broome want to teach students and unemployed youngsters a valuable lesson on life as they head towards working for a living.

Town-based youth seeking employment are being urged to make contact with the Broome Chamber of Commerce and Industry to plan for their entry into the workforce.

The inaugural Broome Business Youth Job Exchange will connect young people with local employers and give businesses a chance to explain their operations and what they are looking for in potential candidates.

The event also aims to provide a smooth transition into education, training or employment by connecting candidates directly with the businesses.

The key objectives are to encourage and promote engagement between local youth and the business community, promote employment and training opportunities in the Kimberley, and create opportunities for participants to build networks and provide expressions of interest to local employers.
