Kimberley abattoir resumes production after big wet seasonProduction has resumed at the only abattoir in northern Western Australia, with the Kimberley Meat Company back in business processing about 500 head a week.

The abattoir always planned to take a break over the wet season for maintenance work and the obvious supply issues during the wet season.

The abattoir is on Yeeda Station between Broome and Derby, and was officially opened in September.

Yeeda Pastoral's Jack Burton said the company had stockpiled a lot of cattle nearby, so despite the big wet season, the abattoir already had good access to stock.
