Kimberley plant spices up new Matso's brewWritten on the 28 June 2016 The team at Matso's have just provided Australian beer drinkers with a perfect excuse. When the inevitable but often condescending question about the level of brew consumption arises, a glass of Matso's latest keg-only release offers a great retort. "But this contains key essential vitamins and minerals," can be the defensive, albeit still slightly sheepish, reply while thrusting high a sample of Copperhead India Pale Ale.Matso's head brewer Dave Phillips added a pinch or two of a well-known local ingredient found around their Broome operation. Kimberley boab trees are renowned for their high vitamin C content. They have also been a source of calcium for the population. And earlier this year WA scientists identified the plants as having an iron rating around eight times greater than a steak.
