Labor Government increases are cruelest on those that can least afford it

Nationals WA Member for North West Central Vince Catania has said that the increases to household and vehicle charges that Treasurer Ben Wyatt and the WA Labor Government announced are just cruel because they will hit hardest the people that can least afford it.

"There is no need for Treasurer Ben Wyatt to punish the mums, dads and pensioners like this with such harsh increases to household charges," Mr Catania said.

"Putting up household electricity bills $169 a year, which is nearly an 11% increase, water bills up by $266 a year and vehicle rego fees by 5.5% is just being cruel to those that can least afford it."

"Instead of being weak and letting the big miners to pay less while he hits our mums, dads and pensioners the hardest, the Premier Mark McGowan and his Labor Government should have the backbone to stand up to Rio Tinto and BHP and force them to pay more," Mr Catania said.
