Morrgul business training achieves record number of Aboriginal business potentials

Morrgul has recorded an unprecedented level of interest in Aboriginal business enterprise following their recent business workshop series held over the last two weeks.  A total of 105 Aboriginal people completed the one-day workshops the workshops which were held in Broome, Derby, Wyndham, Fitzroy Crossing, Kalumburu, Yungngora and at Kooljaman.  The topcis included "Starting my Business", "Growing my Business", and "Getting into Tourism" topics.

Not only was the attendance extraordinary, Morrgul says the quality of business ideas and the business capacity of people attending was also excellent offering great confidence of growth potential in the Aboriginal Business sector.

Managing Director of Morrgul Melissa Hartmann said, "Despite the tough economic conditions being faced across WA's Northwest, Morrgul's Kimberley operations have continued to deliver fantastic self-employment outcomes for Aboriginal people. We've had a number of new ideas and new startups in the past few months,  and they are all looking forward to building their business during the 'dry' season.

"So far this financial year, we've had 16 new Indigenous businesses startup in the Kimberley."

Morrgul has been busy supporting a number of clients to apply for the Prime Minister and Cabinet's (PM&C) Indigenous Enterprise Development funding, whereby clients can match a loan amount through Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) with a PM&C grant amount.  Morrgul is playing a key role in helping clients with the feasibility and business plan requirements to help clients access IBA finance.

"We're very pleased to be partnering on some significant Aboriginal tourism projects with Tourism WA, including the soon to open Imintji Campground and Community Store on the Gibb River Road. With Tourism WA and Morrgul working together we can help people achieve so much more with their tourism ventures," Ms Hartmann said.
