Mt Gibson decision on Koolan Island to be made by end of MarchWritten on the 13 February 2017 Mt Gibson is expected to make a decision at the end of next month whether to proceed with an 18-month plan to bring its flooded Koolan Island operations in the Kimberley back into production. The Koolan open pit was flooded with seawater in 2014 when the pit wall failed, effectively ending production at the mine. The company must decide whether it is safe and technically and economically viable to rebuild the pitwall, pump out the water and bring the mine back into production. Source: West Australian
