Nalder will stand for leadership if spill called

Dean Nalder has announced his intention to run for the Liberal leadership if a spill motion is put at Tuesday's party room meeting.

Mr Nalder said he felt he had no choice but to resign after what he described as a complete breakdown in his working relationship with Colin Barnett, revealing that he had tried and failed to get a one-on-one meeting with the Premier to discuss issues in his Transport portfolio for six months.

It comes a short time after Premier Colin Barnett said he refused to stand down despite two of his ministers quitting in a rebellion against him.
