New airline to boost local economy... in Townsville

Tigerair Australia is launching nonstop service between Melbourne and Townsville from June 22 2017.

Tigerair said on Wednesday the new flights were supported by the Queensland Government's Attracting Aviation Investment Fund through Tourism and Events Queensland in partnership with the Townsville City Council and Queensland Airports Limited.

Durack electorate votes YES for same sex marriage

Australians have voted Yes to same-sex marriage after 61.6 per cent of almost 13 million respondents backed the proposal in the $122m voluntary survey.

In the federal electorate of Durack 7 of every 10 people issued a vote card responded with 59% voting yes. That compared to the national 'yes' vote of 62%.
