No dams on Fitzroy River but State open to other water storage optionsWritten on the 13 March 2018 Legislation to create a Fitzroy River National Park could be introduced within two years.
Environment Minister Stephen Dawson made the statement when he headed a group from cabinet, including Alannah MacTiernan, Dave Kelly and Ben Wyatt from the agriculture, water and Aboriginal affairs portfolios, at a forum in Fitzroy Crossing today kickstarting an election promise to expand Geikie Gorge National Park to the Fitzroy River. Ms MacTiernan said the Government was clear no dams on the actual rivers which impeded the "flow" would be permitted but was open to other storage methods. Source: The Kimberley Echo |
