Pollie waffle hurting the North (Opinion)

A Western Australian judge says it would make sense for the northern part of that state to align itself to Darwin, rather than its southern capital, Perth.

If anyone knows about being looked over by the bigger cities down south, it is Darwin.

His calls have been backed up both by Charles Darwin University senior law lecturer Ken Parish and the Chamber of Commerce NT acting chief executive Brian O'Gallagher.

They each say it "makes sense" for the Kimberley to form part of the Northern Territory from both an economic and social perspective. However unlikely it may be, it appears there are mechanisms within the Constitution for such a trade to occur, as long as WA come to the party.

The communities certainly have a lot more in common with the NT than they do with southern WA.
