Pretty Blonde wins Broome Cup

Pretty Blonde wins Broome Cup WITH all the glamour on show, it was fitting that Pretty Blonde won Saturday's Broome Cup.

The eight-year-old mare, ridden by Raymond Vigar, was the toast at the sun-baked racecourse as 7000 racegoers partied and punted.

Some of WA's business elite took a break from the boardroom for the highlight of the carnival.

Most were guests of Allure South Sea Pearls owners Bill Reed and Lindsay Youd in their marquee.

Fresh from a trip to Saint Tropez on the French Riviera were property developer Nigel Satterley with his wife Denise.

Other guests included Hawaiian Group chief executive Russell Gibbs with his wife Tamara, Jamie and Melissa Karlson, hotelier Peter Prendiville with his wife Debra and Macquarie Group WA chairman Mark Barnaba with his wife Paige.

Also there were developers Steve and Helen Palmer who will open their $18 million Ku De Ta Perth, at their On The Point development in November.

The Bachelor favourite Nikki Gogan was in attendance with her parents and sister Danielle.

Political duties meant perennial attendee Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop was absent. She was with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at the WA Liberals' conference.

The Broome Cup attracted almost 7000 racegoers. Earlier, retired champion jockey Jim Cassidy showed off the 2016 Emirates Melbourne Cup.
