Second Ichthys vessel headed for gas fieldWritten on the 19 July 2017 Ichthys' second floating facility has begun sailing from South Korea for the LNG project's gas fields off the Kimberley. Operator Inpex said the floating production, storage and offloading platform the Ichthys Venturer began the voyage yesterday evening from waters near its construction site in Okpo following commissioning and preparation work. The Venturer is expected to take about a month to make the 5600km journey to the Browse Basin, 220km off the North West coast. It's sister platform, floating central processing facility the Ichthys Explorer, reached the site last month and is undergoing hook-up and commissioning. The two facilities will be located about 3.5km apart. The Venturer will process and store condensate delivered from the Explorer before periodically offloading it to export carrier vessels. It has a storage capacity of 1.12 million barrels. Source: thewest.com.au |
