Shell's Prelude FLNG Facility ArrivesWritten on the 26 July 2017 by Broome Chamber of Commerce The Prelude FLNG facility has arrived at its location, the Prelude field, 475km North-North East of Broome. Hook-up and commissioning activities will now commence. This is an exciting time for Australia. Prelude FLNG will provide hundreds of skilled jobs for Australians, including 260 FIFO offshore workers who will man Prelude during stable operations, and over a thousand jobs on rotation during the hook-up and commissioning phase of the project.The majority of Prelude contracts have been awarded to Australian contractors, including a contract awarded to Monadelphous, an Australian based engineering company providing long-term maintenance and modification services valued at $200 million. The safe arrival of the Prelude facility signals a new era for Shell Australia. It is set to become Shell Australia's second operated LNG facility alongside the plant on Curtis Island in Queensland. Prelude's arrival is a clear demonstration of Shell's long standing commitment to investment and development in Australia, delivering significant economic benefits.
