Small start-up takes on massive destination marketing for Kimberley

Gianna Cortese isn't one to sit back and watch the world travel by.  An avid traveller herself and having worked in tourism for a large part of her career, Gianna established Kimberley Information & Travel Centre last year to offer tourists the best experience of the Kimberley using local operators and her extensive knowledge of the region.

Initially operating from the Broome's Courthouse, Thursday Night and Staircase markets her discounted rates have become a hit with travellers and she's taken the bold step of taking the Kimberley on a promotional tour for seven weeks attending Newcastle, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney Caravan and Camping Shows.  She estimates her reach to be 70,000 people to date she still has the massive markets of Sydney and Perth to go on the tour.

Gianna says, "We have invested significantly in this promotion as we believe Broome is well worth it. Many local businesses have come onboard to give us some amazing and exclusive deals. We're very excited and to get out there.

Having first arrived to Broome as a dusty backpacker in 1988, Gianna says it was the Kimberley sunset called that called her back to stay.

"We are a family owned and operated business. Our love for Broome and this beautiful country is our drive and passion to support it wholeheartedly.

"Having extensively traveled Australia combined  with our time aboard numerous Kimberley vessels, our knowledge & experiences are invaluable.

"Our 'Kimberley Calling' tour has so far reached out to over 70,000 people, having visited Newcastle, Adelaide, Melbourne and with Sydney and Perth still remaining.

"We are looking forward to a spectacular season with many more to come."
