Sobrane Gallery in Italy

Someone at Sobrane Gallery has been very busy!

36 metres of concrete canvas has been completed in Italy as part of my involvement with the Australian Cultural Centre.

This involvement began 12 months ago with a group exhibition of Australian Artworks in Rome and the brainchild of fellow artist Steve McLaren and Peta Lowrey of the Australian Cultural Centre.

The wall began in June with the Great Spotted Wood Peckers. The work has been created on the base wall of a beautiful medieval town called Soriano Nel Cimino. Its a special town built on a mountain top with castle which is known to have once been the Popes summer palace way back in the 12th century.

"I am so inspired by the process of creating these large scale works. I hold an idea in my head then draw it directly to the wall. I have no scale to go by, its a totally natural process and its only when I finish do I stand back and see what I have created", says Sobrane from Sobrane Gallery.

This work was completed over 6 days in a two stage process with the help of Fabio and Egisto and many community members who expressed their joy at the development. Many have said my works make them happy. Mission accomplished!

Sobrane is an Australian artist exhibiting internationally. Sobrane owns and runs two galleries of her works in Australia. In Bowral, NSW at 33 Station Street and in Broome, 15 Dampier Terrace.

She is receiving global recognition for her works and has exhibited in many countries, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy, and recently had a show at the Asia Contemporary Art Show which was very successful and she will return for her second show in March 2017.

Her works are available on her web site www.sobrane.com.au.
