Tourism WA CEO resigns

Tourism WA CEO Stephanie Buckland has resigned to take up a CEO role in the aged care industry.

Tourism WA Chair Peter Prendiville said while he congratulated Stephanie on securing this position, he was disappointed Tourism WA and the tourism industry would be losing a CEO of such high calibre and one that has done so much for tourism in our state. Stephanie joined Tourism WA in March 2008 as Executive Director Marketing and was instrumental in the development of the Experience Extraordinary brand positioning, as well as the highly successful Extraordinary Taxi Ride campaign. Stephanie was appointed Chief Executive Officer in April 2011 after acting in the role from January 2010. She led a major restructure of Tourism WA in 2010, positioning the agency to implement the new strategic direction set by the Board. Under Stephanie's leadership, the organisation was streamlined and efforts were re-focused on marketing, events and significant tourism infrastructure. Stephanie's last day with Tourism WA will be Friday July 22. The Board will work closely with the Public Sector Commission to identify an acting CEO in the weeks to come while the recruitment process gets underway.
