Virgin Australia announces additional 4 weekly Perth Broome services this summer

Virgin Australia announces additional 4 weekly Perth Broome services this summer Virgin Australia's Regional Sales Manager has expressed his appreciation for Broome's business community, with the airline recently partnering with Singapore Airlines & Cable Beach Club to host a business after hours.

"The VA Team thoroughly enjoyed the chance to converse with a range of people and listen to their insights on Broome," said Darren who describes Broome as a multi-faceted market with passengers flying for business, tourism, government, fly-in fly-out work and visiting friends and family.

"We want to play a part in supporting all of those passengers and we're always looking at how to meet the needs of those different groups.

"The upcoming summer season will see 14 Perth Broome services per week, compared to 10 last year.  We've offered sale fares on the Broome Perth market 50 times in 2017 so far - These sale fares started at $159 and averaged $189.  We will continue to drive airfare specials that support travellers going to and from Broome."

"We do our best to support those who need to travel at the last minute through offering a schedule that supports the travel needs of our customers and through continually reviewing our fares to make sure they are as competitive as they can be.  Our fares are driven by a range of factors including demand, competition, time of booking, seasonality, our operating costs as well as costs from third parties, including airport pricing."

Qantas recently announced the terms of their local resident airfare, to which we asked whether Virgin might be feeling slightly worried about losing traction on the outbound market from Broome.  But Best seems confident that this won't interrupt their plans to service Broome.

"A number of years ago we trialled special discounts for regional WA residents. However, we found that these initiatives had a  low uptake among residents and therefore the cost of offering and promoting them wasn't sustainable."

But what of our much aspired for direct link to Singapore?

Visiting Singapore Airlines representative Nikki Marlborough was conscious of not wanting to drum up too much anticipation for her visit, while not announcing a direct flight to Broome she pointed out that they were working in collaboration with Virgin to support visitors travelling either way.

"This partnership means we can work toegher to increase the accessibility of Broome residents to Singapore through our network, but also allow Singapore Airline travellers a travel path to Broome."

Virgin Airlines encourages Broome residents to book as far head as possible, and sign up to V-mail here.

Virgin have been proud sponsors of the Kimberley Girl for a number of years and look forward to continuing this partnership.
