New alcohol restrictions to threaten tourism in East Kimberley, business owners sayWritten on the 22 November 2017 New liquor restrictions that will see daily limits on take-away alcohol purchases halved in the East Kimberley have been welcomed by a local Aboriginal organisation, but criticised by local business owners who say it will impact tourism in the region.Alcohol purchases in Wyndham and Kununurra will be cut to one carton of full-strength beer, three bottles of wine or a bottle of spirits per day, in an effort to curb alcohol-related violence. Danielle Hart, Managing Director of the Kimberley Accommodation Group, which runs a bottle shop in Kununurra, said the restrictions would deter tourists from visiting the East Kimberley.
